How to Pull off the Perfect Holiday Party

It's the time of year when you've been invited to a handful of holiday parties starting from Thanksgiving all the way until New Years. Yes, they can be an absolute blast, but have you ever been to one of those awkward parties where you'd make any excuse to bolt out of there as quickly as possible? Honestly, I think we've all had a taste of that piece of the pie at least once in our adulthood. No fun, right?

Let's flip the script... Are you throwing a holiday party this year, and you're worried sick that it won't be a hit or what's buzzing around the office the next day? Well have no fear. Follow these 7 simple steps to help you pull off the perfect holiday party!

1. Choose a Color Palette

Every party needs a theme or color palette. Honestly, the possibilities are endless. The most important key to remember is to choose a color palette and stick with it! Let the same theme flow throughout each room, giving your party a balanced feel.

2. Plenty of Food

This is very important. You don't want your guests leaving the party still hungry, so make sure you've got enough food to go around. Another helpful tip is to always have finger foods, such as cheese, crackers, nuts, and fruit accessible throughout the event so that if your guests want to snack they have the option.

3. Provide Alcohol

I suggest providing alcohol because even for the non-drinkers, it's always nice to "splurge" every once in a while with a glass of wine. Usually a holiday party is just the place. Make sure you give your guests the option. I'm not condoning drinking and driving, but what's a party without a couple cocktails, am I right?!

4. Create a DIY station

As for your DIY station, it could be something as fun as a s'mores bar or hot chocolate bar. I can promise you this, either of these options would be a huge hit! Another suggestion could be a crafty DIY station, such as making a wreath, decorating ornaments, or creating some type of holiday craft. Let me warn you, keep it simple. The more complicated the project gets, the quicker your guests will lose interest.

5. Play a game

This is another one of those ideas that I would also keep pretty simple. A fun game that's always a hit for holiday parties is Secret Santa. This is for fun, so make sure your guests know there's a monetary limit of $5 - $10. We don't want to break the bank, and it's a great way to get your guests to interact with each other.

6. Set up a photo booth

You can NEVER go wrong with a photo booth. Either create your own or rent one from a local company. I can tell you one thing; a photo booth brings out the real personalities in people, so it's always a good time. Try to have props for your booth as well. It will make it even more interesting.

7. End on a High Note

Send your guests off on a high by providing them with a gift personalized by you! I'm not saying go spend a ton of money on party favors for a holiday get together, but something like a goodie bag of baked cookies can never be a bad move. Another cool idea would be to create a holiday travel kit for your guests; you know they'll get used at some point. Think about leaving a lasting impression!

Well there you have it! If you follow these 7 steps, you will most definitely pull of the perfect holiday party! I can guarantee they'll be hoping you're the one throwing the parties every year! Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays, and best of luck on hosting your next event!
