Brian + Michelle | Island Wedding

Every wedding is a magical union where guests come to celebrate love. Now,

even though each wedding is rooted in the same fundamentals, they are all incredibly

different, as they should be. Michelle and Brian’s big day took place in Ocean Isle Beach, NC at a waterfront beach house on Friday, August 19, 2016. The day was filled with free spirited personalities, lots of laughter, and tons of fun. This wedding, to put it simply, was a great time! It was a true celebration!

The ceremony began at EXACTLY 5:02 p.m. as the couple surrounded

themselves with 70 of their closest friends and family members. As a planner, this

ceremony time was a fun little challenge! Typically, ceremony times are approximates, but 5:02 p.m. meant something special to our couple. The groom has had a long career in flying, so the couple set a flight time for their ceremony. This meant the guests, the wedding party, the musicians, the officiant, the DJ, and every other vendor involved had to be on their mark and ready to go at that time... And we made sure they were! The couple married on top of a raised deck overlooking the ocean surrounded by deep purples, lavender, greenery, and white. Their color pallet blended beautifully with the bright blue sky and the white sand. The day couldn’t have been more picturesque!

During the cocktail hour, we flipped parts of the space to utilize every square footage that we could. (A little note: beach house weddings can occasionally be a challenge, but

we love a challenge!) The guests enjoyed cocktails and hors d'oeuvres while listening to a string duo, and taking in the scenery. One of the featured pieces of Brian + Michelle's wedding was their beautiful dessert table. Their ombre rose cake made by Creative Cakes Designs by Tammy Hodge was definitely the focal point. The cake topper was a silhouette that described the bride and groom perfectly. Michelle has a passion for dance and fitness, and Brian, as mentioned before, has a career in powered paragliding/paramotoring.

As we all know, some unexpected moments can arise on a wedding day, but from a planner’s perspective, it’s all about how you handle them, so we have to share this story with you. This story is also a great example of why it's so important to have a planner by your side the day of your wedding. During the ceremony the frosting literally folded down the cake due to a rise in the temperature outside. Luckily, we caught the problem and contacted Tammy immediately. She, in her amazing and dedicated way, made an impromptu trip out to Ocean Isle (which is about an hour away) and saved the cake. Michelle and Brian had no idea until the next day! They were blown away by her work and by our ability to execute and resolve a very big situation without a single person knowing.

The reception was one big party where you could find guests on the dance floor, at the bar, and even the pool! ...Yes, the pool!!!! One of the coolest pictures captured was of Michelle’s bridesmaids linked hand in hand jumping into the pool. The night wrapped up with a fun and intimate sparkler sendoff on the beach where the couple paraded through their friends and family. There’s no doubt about it--everyone had a wonderful time on their special day in August. We were so thrilled to be a part of their special day, and witness the love these two share! Congrats to Brian + Michelle! We wish them a lifetime of happiness.

Let's recap their big day!
